Niche Minisites

January 29, 2007

Once again I have to thank Linda Buquet for her post to inform us of Net Business Blog’s  “Building a Niche Minisite“.  Matt gave some really excellent information for people looking to make money online.  His information is priceless as it gives specific information and examples on what to do.  If you follow his advise, anyone should be making money online.

Especially if you take Shawn Collins’ advised in his post “Rich Affiliate, Poor Affiliate” and take any money you earn from your minisite and reinvest it to grow your business.

In time and constant reinvesting, your business will grow and you’ll surpass your expectations every time! :)

Yes I do…

Evolutionary IMarketing Success posted “Do You Have These 5 Characteristics to Make BIG in Affiliate Marketing?”.

I answered yes to all 5!!!

I might lack confidence and haven’t seen any real success yet, but I have the characteristics that will keep me at it until I succeed.  Like my blog says… I will succeed!  It’s only a matter of time, education, experience, and luck.

My wife… Who?

January 25, 2007

I just read a post over at Affiliate Classroom that rings true to me.  The post basically talks about how 65% of US consumers spend more time on the computer than they do with their significant other.

I know I spend more time on the computer than I do with my wife.  Actually, I spend all my free time (outside kids and work) on the computer.  Every free minute is spent there.  I know it’s hurting my relationship with her, but that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to take for the better of my family as a whole.  The overall stress from barely getting by with my regular job adds a lot more problems to the relationship than just the fact that I don’t spend a lot of time with her.

I would give anything to be able to relax at night.  To go to the movies every once in a while.  To own a ATV and spend time with my son fishing.  To know the bills are paid and not have to worry about what’s next to be turned off.  To not miss family traditions because we can’t afford to attend.

I know money isn’t everything, but everyone needs to have a sense of financial stability.  I don’t care about getting rich.  I just want my family to be comfortable.  I want to open a Registered Educational Saving Plan for my children.  I want to be financially stable enough to be able to do the little things in life that really matter.

I know that in the end I may lose my wife. I certainly hope not, but my family’s future is everything to me.  I would rather lose my wife and be able to provide a future for everyone than to try and make things work in this situation.

I hope she understands.

Congratulations Mike!

I just wanted to make a quick post to congratulate Mike Greening on his success with affiliate marketing. Mike commented on my post “The power of Focus” to remind me to stay focussed and to point out that there will be losers in this game.

I agree with Mike’s comments 110%. He certainly hit the bullseye. One of the keys to be successful with affiliate marketing, especially when you’re paying for your traffic (PPC), is to realize the losers very quickly and to drop them. Also he states that he focussed on the winner he found which resulted in the profits from that site to jump dramatically within a few months.

I’m curious to know if this was just a seasonal item, but in either case it’s still an amazing success story that I love hearing about.

Mike also recommended Jeremy Palmer to add to my list of mentors. I agree with him on this as well. I read Jeremy’s Book “High Performance Affiliate Marketing” and fully recommend it.

One thing I liked the most about Jeremy’s eBook was not the eBook itself! Funny enough! Don’t get me wrong, it’s an excellent book. I used to lurk around on his forum and read a lot of his posts from his readers and saw that he was there to help them. He didn’t just write the book to make more money. He wrote it to help people get into affiliate marketing and spent a lot of time giving very valuable “inside information”.

For those interested my list of mentors include Jeremy Palmer, John Reese, Frank Kern, and Ed Dale.  To keep with the staying focussed theme, I also found 5 Bucks a Day By Dennis Becker a good read.

Another Affiliate Summit Post…

Affiliate Summit LogoI wish everyone a good time at the Affiliate Summit. I sure wish I could have gone. These gatherings are a great place to learn new things and meet new people.

For those of you starting off in affiliate marketing and lucky enough to be there, I highly suggest that you make the effort to network as much as possible. Some of the best partnerships in history were formed by networking at these type of events.

Don’t just go to listen to the speakers and then go home. Take the time to seek out and meet other like-minded people and MOST IMPORTANTLY follow up with people you meet. Get their names, phone numbers, email, whatever that will allow you to stay in contact with them in the future. Build friendships because these will be one of the most important assets of your business as you grow.

The gurus frequently talk about leveraging your assets. The people you know is a very important asset to leverage. Keep that in mind and enjoy yourself!
