I don’t want to sound like I’m trying to sell you this program, but I had to recommend it. I absolutely love this. I’ve used it to get my thoughts down, to take notes, to plan, and to organize.
I love that it allows me to see the big picture at a glance and gives me access to my resources very quickly.

I’ll give you a few examples of how I use this program to help me.

  • Web Sites: I use this program to brainstorm the develop of a site. Just about all aspects of the site will be put in this program and then I can track my progress on each task I’m working on. Great way to organize.
  • Resume: Using this program for your resume can be a great help. I’ve used it as a central database (so to speak) of my qualifications, education, experience, and accomplishments. I include anything and everything that I do that could be a benefit to a future employer. I include links, documents, urls, etc, in case I need to refresh. I don’t use it to just copy my resume. It’s much better used to provide a snapshot of yourself. Then when it’s time to write your resume, you have your complete history at your fingertips. Takes the pain out of writing a resume for each job you’re applying for.
  • Military Application: I used it to create a map of the sections of the application that had to be done. The application consisted of various sections which had certain requirements that had to be met before submitting the application (fitness, documents, etc). The map allowed me to see what I had completed, what needed to be done, and what I had left to do. This was great help.
  • Internet Marketing: I have a map created with my goal in the center and then I have have tools, resources, and notes recommended by the gurus or discovered myself. What I like the most is that it allows me to see everything at a glance and it links directly to the resources. For example, I can link directly to an eBook I read and if I took note of a particular paragraph, I can add those notes to the link for easy reference. I also like that I can link directly to excel files and actually display the excel file right in the program. What a cool program. Well worth the money.

Like I said, I love Mindjet MindManager 6 (aff) and highly recommend it. Without a doubt one of the best programs I have used.

Rosalind Gardner…

January 20, 2007

I’m in the middle of a tele-seminar with three top affiliates, one of which is Rosalind Gardner. She makes over $500,000 a year from affiliate sales and she’s doing it with only a few sites.

I found a lot of her comments interesting and informative. Here are a few comments she made that boils down the whole process of making money with affiliate marketing.

Rosalind states to be success you need to:

  • Research
  • Come up with a hot target market
  • Find relevant products
  • Write endorsements
  • Design and build the site
  • Get loads of traffic using Pay Per Click

I know these are very basic, but they should help me focus my attention. If I can take each step and develop a specific process to follow and then stick to this process, I should be able to see a positive ROI.

As long as my cost of advertising is less then my affiliate sales, then everything will be good! I don’t care if I’m getting $0.10 on every dollar spent. As long as it’s a positive ROI I’ll be happy.

In case you’re wondering, yes I have changed my plans again. I was planning on developing adsense type sites to generate the money to use on PPC advertising. The reason why I changed my plan is because I realized that it may takes 6 months or more to get enough traffic on adsense sites to generate any noticeable income. I decided that it would be better to follow and expand on Rosalind’s approach.

The Power of Focus

January 17, 2007

Linda Buquest helped solidify my comments regarding being focused in her posting The Power of Focus in Affiliate Marketing. I swear she got the idea for the post from me! Just kiddin’. :)

I was thinking.

January 16, 2007

I was just thinking. I’ve heard the same (similar) recommendations from a few “gurus” regarding focusing. In a nutshell, they basically state that you need to focus on one project (site) at a time until completed and bringing in a few bucks before going to the next.

I agree with them because my lack of focus is, in my opinion, one of the biggest things holding back my success online.

The thing that got me thinking was that they state that I shouldn’t move on to the next project until the first is brining in a few bucks. Unless I’m planning to use adwords to bring instant traffic, I’m not too sure if this is the best approach.

In any business, you need to move on. Businesses don’t complete one project and wait to be paid before moving on to the next project. In business you need to multi-task. You need to work on more than one project at a time. The key however is to prioritize projects and tasks and then focus on one task at a time, not necessary one project. You might be responsible for getting 2-3 projects out by a certain deadline.

In my strategy (which I need to develop and get down on paper) I will not limit myself to just working on one project until it starts bringing in money. I will work on one project until it’s online. I will then move on to the next project returning to the first project to tweak and add as time goes by. Eventually the first project will get indexed and hopefully start getting traffic.

Once I start getting enough money from adsense sites I will then take that money to reinvest and branch out into promoting existing products on Adwords and other PPC programs.

There’s something to be said about…

January 15, 2007

There’s something to be said about being focused. This is probably one of the biggest things holding me back. I lack focus. I need to step back, take a deep breath, and concentrate on one project at a time. I spend all my time trying to learn how to make money online, but I never do anything to actually make the money. I have learned a lot of great information over the last few months. I feel like I’m heading down the correct path now, but I still feel I’m missing something.

I know there are a lot of options available. White hat, black hat, blogging, social bookmarking, etc. I know I can monetize my traffic with adsense, yahoo, info products, cj, linkshare, shareasale, etc. There’s so much information and options that I feel most people are like me and don’t know where to start.

Personally, I’ve decided to concentrate on adsense and adwords. My plans are to create sites to monetize traffic with adsense and use the profits from adsense to fund adwords campaigns to promote info products. At first, I plan to promote existing info products, however would move to outsourcing the creation of my own info products to promote. Obviously, I don’t want to base my entire business model just on Google, so I do plan to branch out as much as possible to have a backend to generate revenue.

It’s like the movie “What about Bob?”.  It’s all about “baby steps”.   I need to think small.  Just one site at a time.  Find ways to promote the site, build content for it and make it grow.  I need to take my time and allow that site to start bringing in traffic and revenue before moving on to the next project/site.  This is one of the hardest steps and that’s only because I lack confidence.  I never feel that the site will bring in any money.  Even if I’m only trying to make $1-2 per day from that site, I doubt the site will bring it in.  I need a lucky break.  I need a burst of traffic and adsense income to revive my energy.  I won’t hold my breath though! :)
