A Reponse from Google.

July 12, 2007

Well, I received a response from Google (original post) and unfortunately the answer wasn’t very helpful. Except for a short paragraph at the beginning of the email the rest was a cookie cutter answer (same one I received once in the past). View their response after the jump.

Definite Major Purpose

July 12, 2007

On June 30th I wrote a post titled “I owe Napoleon Hill a Beer” in which I stated that I didn’t have a definite purpose in life. I stated that I had ideas about what would make my life better and gave a couple examples.

What I didn’t realize at the time is that I actually did have a definite purpose. I guess I had an epiphany this morning because something changed inside of me. On my way to work today I was once again listening to the teachings of Napoleon Hill and once again he was on the topic of a definite major purpose in life. He stated that you must have a definite major purpose in life, you must know where you’re heading and where you want to go.

More after the jump.

Personal Development for Smart People

July 11, 2007

Over the last couple of days I have been listening to podcasts recorded by Steve Pavlina. Steve has devoted his life to helping people grow in their lives. His podcasts are informative and with his computer background they take on a unique approach when giving analogies to explain various concepts. Having a computer background myself I find that I am enjoying his podcasts and look forward to more.

Check out his site.

An email to Google.

July 11, 2007

I hear stories and gossip about publishers getting their adsense accounts closed with no warning and no reason. Usually these individuals will say that their sites all had quality content and there was no reason for Google to shut them down.

The problem with believing these individuals is that their posts are biased. They are obviously upset that Google shut down their accounts. It’s not like they’re going to say that they’ve been running multiple useless sites filled with spam and can’t believe Google shut them down. For obviously reasons they’re going to portray themselves in the best light possible.

For this reason I can’t trust what they say is accurate and telling the whole truth. So I decided to email Google’s adsense program directly and see if I can get some clarification on what their process and procedures are for handling these types of situations and to question the truth behind the various stories online.

This is not the first time I’ve emailed Google and I must admit that I have had a really positive experience with them thus far with getting help, clarification, and TOS compliance. I look forward to a response from them. Hopefully it’s not a copy-n-paste cookie cutter answer that majority of online customer service provides, but my experience with them tells me it won’t be.

Let’s wait and see.

I owe Napoleon Hill a beer.

June 30, 2007

Focus has to be one of the most important determinants that will decide your success or failure in life. Napoleon Hill said it best when he said you need to have a “definite of purpose”. I don’t have a definite of purpose, I have yet to figure out exactly what I want from life. I have many very specific ideas on what would make my life better and what things would give me peace and enjoyment in my life. One example of this is the purchase of a second hand 4×4 polaris quad that I can use to take my son fishing. I have a burning desire to make this a reality so much it gives me the fuel I need to continue night after night for little in return. I know in my mind that this will be a reality, it’s only a matter of time. I have already imagined what it would be like to take my son out for the day, just the two of us, spending time, bonding. I can see the excitement in his eyes as he shows his mom the fish that he caught that day and tells his story about what we did.

The point is you need to know why you’re doing what you’re doing and have a burning desire to obtain what it is you’re trying to obtain. You need to want it so badly that it’s not a question about if you’ll obtain it, it’s only a question about when you’ll obtain it. Take your desires, figure out a way to obtain it, make a plan to obtain it, and than work your plan.

Sounds simple enough, but this is no easy task. What are your desires, what do you want from life? Majority of people never figure this out. Mostly because they never take the time to think about it. They live their life and react to things that happen around them, usually blaming faith or others for all things negative in their life.

I used to think the same thing and in some ways I still do. I used to think that I would never be successful because I didn’t have what other successful people have. I used to think that life was unfair. I no longer think like this. I know that life is what I make of it and I’m working on changing my stars.

Who do I owe the honor of changing the way I think? Napoleon Hill of course. I am still amazed that the information he taught back in the early 1900s are just as applicable today as they were back then. Nothing has changed. Sure we live in a completely different world now but our minds are still the same. Our thoughts make our life and our thoughts are what we make of it. We control our thoughts, we have the power, we just rarely use it.

If there’s nothing else in this world that I can say, it’s this. Become obsessed with Napoleon Hill and his teachings and you’re guaranteed to succeed.
